Monotype, the company that designed ‘Times New Roman’ & ‘Arial’ just got acquired for ₹5700 crores

The font expert since 1887!

The global ‘king of fonts’, has been acquired by Private equity firm HGGC that is pulling off its biggest investment ever in this all-cash-deal.

Monotype has worked with tech giants like Microsoft, IBM, Apple & Google during the tech boom, but it has also comfortably expanded its customer portfolio to include thousands of notable brands that are provided tailor-made services.

The company was originally a imaging tech company when it was founded in 1887 and specialized in typesetting. With the HGGC deal, Monotype expects to venture into images and emoji’s, that are gaining more prevalence with time.
