Renault-Chrysler merger: Big Guns coming together?

An Automotive Colossus 🔜

Apparently, we are set for a major shakeup in the automotive industry: the American-Italian Fiat Chrysler and the French Renault are believed to be in talks for a 50-50 merger that would make the joint company the third largest producer of cars in the world (only behind Japan’s Toyota and Germany’s Volkswagen).

The merger could pave the way for a long-awaited M&A (merger and acquisition) boom in the sector, strengthening FCA’s position in electric vehicle technologies and giving the constantly growing industry an interesting injection of positive politics.

While talks reportedly began in January, the world media only caught a whiff of the deal earlier in May; setting an example for discretion in business. Maybe the Trump administration could take a leaf out of their book?
